How do top salesmen close their deals?

Some Guy
Top salesmen listen more than they talk. They hear what the customer wants, and offer it to them. They don't push products that the customer doesn't want, or waste time trying to sell something too expensive / too big, etc... By listening to the customer, trust is established, and the customer will usually be the one to say "lets' do it" to the salesman, instead of the salesman putting the pressure on the customer.

Ems
By being personal. Try to match features and benefits that suit the customer. Probing, Ask the customer what they want, what they are looking for. Listen to them and give them what they want. Never sell them something they won't really use, in the long run they won't be happy. After doing that they assume the sale and ask for the close. Example: How's that sound Mr. Dick. I can take care of this for you today or tomorrow, which do you prefer?

ask for the sale, or threaten the customer

paulie
Well i used to use a thumbscrew and rack, but I didn't do to well with repeat business, so now I go out to their house and fall down and threaten to sue unless they sign up for long term contracts

Why?

By what they do in the beginning and middle of the sale.

B
I have been in sales for years and in order to effectively close the deal. You must have a qualified prospect who is an a position to buy. So qualification is key, second you need to trial close through out your presentation, and finally assume the sale.
