How do you deal with a bad boss?
My boss is very sharp and has been with the company for years. However he is ruthless in dominating the attention from the higher ups. He has a history of flirtations and backstabbings in the office. He is very secretive with business knowledge and shares nothing.
As much as I like the" kick him in the nutts" answer, that is not a very practical choice in the workplace...Maybe there is a better job out there for you!

3 choices. you either get him promoted or fired or you move out. good luck to you.

Sounds like an a s s hole. Have you tried kicking him in the nuts? That usually works for me.

a sharp knife always has good handle for grip. find out the handle to grip it.A ruthles man has many weaknesses that is the reason that he is ruthless to prevent others to come nearer.find out his weakness.backstabbings is another indication that he is not bold. such persons are easy to be dominated. find out that person , may be you.

You yourself claims he's sharp. What are you asking?

I had a boss like that and the best thing I ever did was get another job. I know you may want to stay where you are but you will feel so free when you get away from that creep.
Start getting your resume' out there (Monster.com, HotJobs.com) and take a chance!!! Good luck! :)

Find a new job and hope that the new boss is a little less intimidating
Me! :-)
Find another job that will allow you to further your career. You may not get far in promotions if you continue to work for such a snake.... unless... you are going to play the game with him.

It depends how much you like your job. I had one bad boss, after a year I quit and ended up with the best boss I ever had.
