I do not drink beer, as a matter of fact I hate it but.......I live in St. Louis and have my entire life, in fact I live about a 10 minute drive from the brewery. I must tell you that most St. Louisans are very pissed off. There is more to it than great tasting beer(from what I hear Busch isn't all that good), it was an American staple for about 150 years and very iconic for the St. Louis region. This corporation that has emerged with Anheuser is thinking of cutting(what they view to believe as) unnecessary costs. Unnecessary costs meaning Sea World, Busch Gardens,Grants Farm( located here in St. Louis) and jobs. So with this merger a lot of people are expecting loss of jobs, loss of money given to local charities donated from Anheuser Busch, the loss of those major theme parks aimed at educating people about wildlife, but all first starting with the loss of an American icon. Most of us here in St. Louis are very pissed off. I have a feeling of what is going to happen to those beautiful Clydesdale's once InBev fully assumes control, glue anyone? I guess corporate greed is worth more than a family name and value. |
