Lots of people love Wal-Mart because it's cheap, lots of people hate Wal-Mart because it mucks up the economy really bad.
I like watching the cheapies shop there because I know so many pointyheads who wouldn't be caught dead there or at Starbucks or anything else publicly traded or that employs more than 10 people. The cheapies shopping at Wal-Mart don't really seem happy either though, but I think that's just how they are.
The one thing that people ignore about Wal-Mart is: sure the stuff's cheap but unless it's a brand you trust, 60 % of what you buy is bound be of substandard, dollarstore, quality. I never really experienced "you get what you pay for" until I shopped at Wal-Mart. For pointyheaded elitists like myself Wal-Mart is like the best possible zoo, but I won't shop there because I'm hoity-toity enough to understand what 'quality' means.
A story? Well when I was a cab driver, it was readily assumed that anyone going to or from Wal-Mart wasn't going to tip well or at all and that was better than 95% true. |

its about the only place I can afford to shop given the hi price of gas but I hate those stupid things where you bag your own groceries pay at the computer I would rather have a real person wait on me and i wish they get better quality stuff |

I am assuming you are asking this because the subject of Wal-Mart is so debated. Here it is in my opinion. Do I like Wal-Mart? They're OK I guess, they do sell a lot of stuff cheap. I won't buy everything there, just name brands where the product doesn't differ from store-to-store but the price does. I am rather indifferent as to memories of Wal-Mart they are a discounter, which means my service there is going to suck, but I get what I want a little cheaper.
As for the way they do business. Why Not? If I had the financial ability to do that kind of a start up and function that kind of profit on a daily basis, I would be doing it to. They have even modernized the way business is done outside of Wal-Mart by implementing systems that make the way things are transported, stored and sold way more efficient. You can thank them for the way your favorite consumable provider does their business today.
I say Wal-Mart has over all done a service to the consumer, not a dis-service. |

For some reason or another I am "drawn" to Walmart. I could say because it's convenient and open 24 hours. But the real truth is every time I go there, it's usually for an emergency need or I need to get in and out quickly. But I never do. I continue to ask myself, "Why do I put myself through this." Customer service is very poor. When there are lines and lines of people waiting to be checked out, there are only a few registers open and the person at that "Customer Service Podium" is looking around, fumbling through papers and really not doing anything productive. I would think that person would have sense enough to see the extending lines and get more registers open.
Walmart does not provide customer assistant. My first job was in retail and I was trained to provide quality customer service so that the customers would want to come back. I often say, "I'm not coming back here again." But somehow, someway, end up in Walmart. I even applied for a job at Walmart and they never called me back even though I made two follow up calls to them. I know I was qualified, maybe over-qualifed to work with them. No problem, everything worked out fine, I have a wonderful job and it's not with Walmart. |
