How do you handle bad employees?

I have two employees who are absolutely horrible. I ask them to do something and they give me an excuse why they can't or won't do something. They come into late to work. And numerous other issues.

I have tried verbal warnings. I have checked with HR regarding warnings and termination of employment.

What else can I do? These people are making me miserable. I have never met a person who could be so insubordinate to their supervisor.

It's not so easy to fire these people.

Been there Keep on HR as to what you need to do to either shape them up (lotsa luck) or fire them. What did HR say when you talked to them?

In the meantime, give them assignments, and document... document... document.

It may not be easy to fire them but it ain't impossible. Just do whatever needs to be done to get them fired and in the mean time deal with the situation as best you can. You can also run the problem by your supervisor and ask for advice - once they know about the problem maybe they'll help you out in getting them fired.

if they won't do the work then u have no choice but to fire em
jsut fire em and say pick up ur check tommorow or w/e
unless its a medical reason, they can't give excuses
