How do you know if you'll be hired or not?
I have been working at this company for 6-7 months now as a Temp. The hiring policy only allows for a 7 month temp period. After that, I can't work there. My boss hasn't discussed this with me for a couple months now. What should I be doing?
Additional Details
I work with only two people: My boss and my co-worker. I can already tell my boss likes my co-worker but hates me. My co-worker also hates me. I have a hostile work environment and my co-worker harrasses me but I can't do anything cause I'm only a temp.

your boss is too busy to notice so it's up to you to ask, eh if they want you it wil be positive, if not then you may loose your job
so ask and find out or just be quiet and keep working till they notice.

A couple of months?

You're scared of success or people. Either way, you need to take some initiative and find out where you stand. I hope you haven't been doing enough to be invisible, because if your boss hasn't spoken to you about this in months, then he/she is either avoiding the issue, or they plan to keep you and it's just not a major priority right now.

Of course, people usually get excited about passing on good news like that. Makes them feel good. So, I wouldn't sit too comfortably if I were you. Contact your temp agency and make sure you have another gig coming around the corner if necessary. Then, swallow your fear and go speak to the supervisor in question.

My wife has been in that situation for a year and a half. You should hedge your bets by sending out resumes to other places, and ask your boss when or if they are planning to hire you. Then give notice if you want to. Maybe they just keep you in limbo for 20 years, maybe thats ok, maybe not.

You should be looking for a new job.

Questions&Answers
Work harder do something to make yourself stand out as a good employee. Then maybe when it is the right time go up to your boss and tell him you really enjoyed working there and hope to stay.

You can always ask him/her. Bring it up casually, and show that you are interested.

I would speak to them in person; I'd approach them or at least someone in upper management and tell them that you've been a temp for a while and you are interested in staying with the company, that you feel it fits your life and that you enjoy working here. Ask them whether they will notify you about whether they want to keep you on board or not; try to sell yourself like at a job interview once again about how well things have gone so far and how well you meshed into the work force; how well it suits your life.
