Craig | How does 'recorded delivery' work?(UK Royal Mail)? |
1. Do you have to pay depending on the weight of the product? If so, how much would a dvd cost to send?
2. Does the person receiving the item have to sign for it?
3. Does the post office retain it and post the product that you want recorded delivery for? |

To answer your question directly:
1. Yes, you have to pay for Recorded Delivery. 1st Class Recorded will be more expensive than 2nd Class Recorded. A DVD being posted in this country (UK) will cost around £1.80 for the 1st Class service and roughly £1.60 for the 2nd Class service.
2. Yes, the person at the receiving end has to sign for the packet.
3. The whole point in Recorded Delivery is that you get proof of postage. |

dont bother they always loose them or just deliver without signature anyway save your money scan and email. |

yes I'd guess about £1.60 or something like that
yes they have to sign for it
post office retain the signature as proof of receiving
only one problem I've found with this is if the package disappears or gets lost before it's signed for they still have no way of tracing it, it's only really to prove the person actually received it. |

Yes like sending any package recorded delivery is dependant on weight and then they add 72p for the recorded bit, so postage for a DVD is about £1.80 - £2.00 depending on how it wrapped, bubble wrap etc.
Yes the person receiving it has to sign for it, you will be given a tracking code when you go into the post office, you use this code online and it will tell you when the item was delivered, time and date etc.
When you go into the post office and pay for recorded or any package for that matter, the post office keeps it and then at the end of the day the post man comes along and picks up all the packages from the post office, it is then taken to the sorting office and sent to where it needs to go. |
