i think they treated me fair. it wasn't exceptional, but they were fair to me the whole time. it all depends on the manager.
if you have a good manager they will treat you with respect and manage your schedule around other things in your life. walmart is great depending on what you want in life. if you just want a part time job after school or for when your kids are at school it is great. walmart is all about hiring part time employees. if you want to become a manager after college it is a good place. there is a lot of room to advance in the company. however if you are looking for a full time job to support a family without any education, you can do better than walmart. well walmart does have jobs for that too, but you have to be lucky enough to live near a distribution center. as an hourly associate at a supercenter the pay isn't great, but hourly at a distribution center is pretty good.

Its not a bad place to work at. Just like any job it has its good and bad. Wal-Mart is a good job to get if you are looking to make a career out of it. They do promote from within so if you really try hard they will be the last job you ever need. They also have okay benefits after your first ninety days. You also get a discount on merchandise that you buy from them if you work there. Its only 10% or atleast that is what it was when I worked there about ten years ago. But over all they are not a bad company to work for. The pay starts out kinda low but you will get raises if you deserve them. Good luck and hope this helps!!

I can't speak for Walmart, but I can speak for Target Stores in the U.S.A. And they treat their employess like sh|t.

If you work at night at one of these stores you can't go out of the building for lunch, they work you hard and put pressure on you, rush you. They want everything unloaded from the truck/dock (5,000 items), put on the shelves and extras put away in 8 hours or less

You're expected to eat the crappy food they serve at their cafes or McDonalds. I never did, I always went across the parking lot to Mimi's Cafe in the morning.

Lunch is only 30 minutes

The pay is horrible unless by some lucky chance you're able to negotiate a reasonable wage. If you bring some kind of college credentials with you, you have a better chance of earning a good wage at one of these stores, otherwise forget it

Like all other corporations. They don't care about their employees. It's all about the $$$$

Wal-Mart isnt the worsest place you could work in but it isnt the best either. Health insurance is hard to obtain. You have to be there for a year and then it is high priced if you want a low deductible. They also work people to death. To hell hiring other people when we can work one as three. They don't pay the best and if you stay there long enough your pay will top out and they will no longer increase your pay. They have also started a new part time policy. They basically refuse to hire anyone as full time anymore, and if a job comes open that was once full time and you would like to change positions they will tell you that you will have to drop to part time to take the position.

Don't work at Wal-mart if you want to go anywhere in life. They have these misleading commercials that trick you into believing that you can start at the bottom and move up, but for 99.99999% of people that's not the case. I worked at wal-mart for a year and a half and for three years since then I have continued to talk to the people I worked with. NO ONE ever got promoted. People have worked there for 20 years without promotions. Also, the raises that are received only keep pace with inflation. People that have worked there for 20 years only make 1 to 2 dollars an hour more than people that just started. You get no benefits anymore. They start you at minimum wage. They use old palette jacks (hand carts) with bad bearings and I still have knee damage due to the strain of pulling 2 ton palettes. I told them that the bearings were bad and they did not listen. When I unloaded the trucks, 200 lb mini-fridges and air conditioners that are not stacked but jumbled on top of other merchandise fell on top of me. Broken open vegetable oil containers often flood the floors of the trucks when wal-mart employees unload them, causing deadly injuries. Wal-mart makes people work under 3rd world conditions. Management discriminates against black employees.
