We have all heard of illegal measures in food production (http://www.koin.com/Global/story.asp?S=6315618&nav=menu494_3) like wheat gluten that caused poisoning among the pets population. Melamine is a plastic material and can cause drastic effects for human too if consumed. I recently also notice our plastic wraps is not up to standard as well... (it is supposed to be microwave safe and within 2 and a half minutes of microwaving, the wrap has dis-intergrated into the soup... potential health issues?)
What happens to these companies if major US consumers quit buying their product because it is un-safe anymore?
How do you think the US population (that company's work force and/or general population) and that US company will suffer? Additional Details As the general work force and consumers of these products, does the act of exporting jobs abroad for cheaper labor ultimately will cost us economic-wise down the future?
E.g. When these companies (finally fold due to poor production finally sell out the company and pocket their last profits) cuts their "higher-end" jobs here in the US... does it not affect spending economy here?
America is committing financial suicide. We must take steps to help domestic industry, but do so in such a way that inferior products are not subsidized.
I grow vegetables in my garden and greenhouse, shoot deer, catch trout, and have chickens which I feed as naturally as possible. By doing so, I minimize my exposure to unsafe foods. If America falls, I plan to live so I can help build a better society.
