The domestic channels are funded by the licence fee, which covers both the TV and Radio reception.
However, note that the BBC is not meant to be a profit making organisation, so your expression, "make it's money" is not really appropriate.

Subliminal advertising, claiming a great chunk out of the licence fee (which is revenue or tax), private sponsors, whoever bids lowest to amke a programme and, I imagine a few lies here and there!!!!
