Have you been to Wal-Mart lately? Prices have increased significantly vs. other retail establishments. Perhaps you do not shop anywhere else. They are moving toward higher end products. Wal-Mart requires their suppliers to decrease vendor prices as their business relationship increases. They will not go bankrupt any time soon. |

Retailers have different margins on different types of products. The things people buy frequently will generally have lower profit or even a loss, while the other items customers will buy while in the store shopping for necessities will have high profit margins to offset the imbalance. |

Walmart squeezes their suppliers so tightly that they can afford cheap prices. Often times the markets that were once viable become the territory of major retailers like Walmart, Home Depot, Target and the suppliers either start selling to the national chains or they have no market. Then Walmart can squeeze the prices down by offering to buy huge volumes. So they won't be going bankrupt anytime soon. |

Wal-Mart has already raised their prices over the last year. Limited items are for clearence, and some things are a lot more expensive in other places(mostly the things needed every day.) Most likely, The Wal-Mart Co. will become a thing of the past as other stores with rise up on the list. It will end up like K-Mart after Pick-n-Save came. One store will go out of business, and then another, and another until you rarely see Wal-marts in town anymore.
This will probably take about 4-5 years. Maybe 6. |
