if you are fired, federal law states you must send the ee their check within 72 hours ro you can fiel a complaint with the labor board. if you wuit you may have to wait for the next pay period..i believe tah is state regualted

Ok...this is actually a tricky question. I'm assuming that you are non-union and non-contract employee. Employers are only required to pay employees the minimum wage...this means that unless you have a contract with a stated wage, or are protected under a collective bargaining agreement with a union, you are only entitled to minimum wage for the hours you worked. If that employer went bankrupt you become an un-secured creditor....and the odds of getting much money are almost nil. As far as how long he has to pay you......if you feel the time is excessive you can call a local agency....it's state agencies that regulate this so it's name will depend on where you live......and ask them to intervene. Their first step will be calling the employer and requesting payment. After that your remedy is pretty much legal (meaning you'll have to sue).
