usually after 90 days if you have been a good employee, i.e. no call ins, no late shows, if you have some negatives wait another 90 days..then wait a year before asking again. |

5 months is too soon for asking for a raise...your still on some sort of a probationary period...but keep up the good work and possibily the boss is already keeping tabs on you the new guy...so patience is what will pay off in the long run... |

Problem is .... they never really specify the exact work that you'll be doing - most of the time just the bare minimum - otherwise nobody will apply. Have you made the effort to make sure your boss is aware of this? If so, promotion may be soon. Otherwise, don't count on it! |

Unless it was specified when you were hired, 6 months .
Wait until your 6 months are up. If they don't come to you, you should approach them. You might start preparing your case for a raise now. Remember, you don't get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate.

I would wait another month. 6 months is pretty standard. Go in to your boss and show them how you are a commodity to their business. |
