If you legally meet the definition of someone who is allowed to be a salaried employee, there is no maximum number of hours that you can be required to work.
However, be advised, that most assistant managers no longer meet this definition. Keep accurate records of when you work. You may want to speak to a law attorney. |

They can ask/require you to work as much as they can get away with.
The flip side of that is, if they are abusive about it and you don't feel properly compensated for it, you can quit and find work elsewhere that treats you better. |

Yes, but bear in mind that you are paid the same for less hours, days off, etc.
It's a two way street. |

as many as they need you too (one of the downfalls of being salary), you do not have to but they can ask you..
EDIT: Sure they can ask you, but like I said you do not have to work more then the 52 hrs may not look good on your part but yes they can ask you to work 60 hrs.. |

That's the way salary works. You're not getting paid by the hour, so you work until the job is done. |

A salaried employee is paid for the work performed, not necessarily the hours he/she works. However a company can set a minimum number of hours for exempt employees. Many companies has chosen to set that at 45 - 50. This is legal.
It is a matter of company preference. A note for future interviews is to ask the company about standard hours and flexibility before taking a job to make sure it fits with your expectations.
You also may want to ask your boss if your work is not getting done or if they are unhappy with your performance. Because if you are meeting the expectation of work, hours really should not matter. |
