How much $ does a typical UAW worker make at an auto assembly plant?
I've heard everything from $60K per year to $150K. Does anyone know what they start at and what the top end is, and what's typical?

Some of the quotes you are hearing are with Benefits and who tells someone their rate of pay with benefits. I am a nurse & I wouldn't know how to even figure my income with benefits or why I would for that matter? I never hear anyone say I make $10 an hour and if you include my benefits I get $25 per hour. So why do they do that with the auto workers?
The regular assembly line worker makes $14.00 per hour.
My husband is retired GM worker and he just now called the President of our Retiree Chapter in Kansas City who is currently in Detroit for a meeting. To find out for sure.
The other quotes you are hearing are with the whole ball rolled together that is salary and hourly with benefits and they average it. So they are making people think these guys are all making upwards of $70 per hour. That is simply not true.
I have to tell you my husband worked on the Bucket Seat Line at the Fisher Body Plant at the GM Leads it was a metal shed on the roof of an old assembly building with 1 big fan at 1 end and the tempature would go up to over 100 degrees and it stunk like skunk sweat and he was making what people thought was great money back then at $3 per hour in the 60's. His highest hourly pay was close to $15 just before he retired and after he retired it went up more, but then later the Workers gave back $5 per hour to save their health care plan.
I might add 75% of the people that thought my husband was raking in the bucks in the 60's would have never stayed on that job. He only stuck it out, because he loved his family so much and wanted to be sure they had insurance. The UAW has made concessions they are one of the Unions that did. If you want to throw stones at Union workers go ahead, but if wasn't for them in years past we would all be taking breaks on the street off the clock, whenever there power outages or our computers are working.
I remember his Uncle an orginal Union man in UAW and the company would make the men sit out on the sidewalk without pay until the line got going again when it broke down and it did regularly, and you better be there when it started or you wouldn't have a job the next day. Americans need to start buying American again- they need to demand American again. I can't even get a coffee pot that isn't made in China.
Mine broke and I am doing without until I find one made in the USA.

who me???
I read somewhere that it was $80 per hour. Sure seems steep.

celebrate
On CNN today I can't remember the man's name but he asked the worker being interviewed how much he made & it was almost $30 a hour...So I think you might be in the right ballpark..He also mentioned he has a nice health care & other benefits.
