How much money does a CEO make a year?

bzqdrums
That's a very vague question. Obviously, it depends on the company. There's also various ways to compensate including salary, stock options, deferred compensation, etc. For example, even though Apple's CEO Steve Jobs only takes a $1 salary....that's right, $1.00, he still made over $646 million last year from other compensation.

The top 5 highest paid American CEO's are:

Steve Jobs, Apple....$646 Mil.
Ray Irani, Occidental Petroleum....$322 mil.
Barry Diller, IAC....$295 mil.
Bill Foley, Fidelity Investments...$190 mil.
Terry Semel, Yahoo....$175 mil.

Remember, salary is the LEAST of how the guys get paid.

A crapload. Whether they are the CEO of a small company or a big company, they make a good amount of money, sometimes a great amount. Just look at Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, for example. :)

$2,000 US per employee is a common equation factor used, but that's really subjective to the type of business, industry, and many other things.

brilliantman_i
Depends on various factors, but typically between 100k and 50 millions.

Depends on how big the company is and how much money they make.

The CEO of a small, newly formed company might make $50K.

The CEO of a multimillion dollar corporation would make millions.

Most CEOs make somewhere in between the two.
