I remember reading the Forbes list of Richest people. Bill Gates is the richest man on Earth with 53 Billion.
Now this might not be exactly correct but when your talking 50 some billion dollars, a couple of billion either way doesn't matter.
Here is an example of how much a billion dollars really is.
If I give you 1 million dollars and require you to spend $1000.00 every day, never taking a day off, it will take you 2 years and 9 months to spend $1,000,000.00.
If I give you 1 Billion dollars ($1,000,000,000.00) with the same requirements, it will take you 2,900 years to spend that billion dollars.
This is the difference between 1 million and 1 billion dollars.
So when a Congressman or Senator says they are going to raise taxes to get an extra 10 billion dollars, it is a lot of money. You and every generation of your offspring (a new generation is started every 20 years), using the $1000.00 a day to pay in, will pay for 2,900 years. That is the next 13,500 generations of your family, paying $1000.00 a day, will pay only 1 billion of the debt. It will take 9 other people and all their next 13,500 generations to pay off the 10 billion dollar tax debt to the government.
But, you and your decendents won't feel the pain of paying it cause the Government would take it out of you bank account Automatically. This way, you and your next 13,500 generations won't feel the pain of paying that $1000.00 each and every day. Just like you don't feel the pain of your taxes being taken from you paycheck each week. |
