I have to guess you are under 16 since by that age you are in a class that would have taught you that the wall street futures market are the reason for the high gas prices, not the oil companies. Also, with the reported big oil find last month, that would tend to depress futures prices. |

Oil prices went down for two reasons: Summer travel is over and President Bush eased his policy towards Iran.
Do you really think Bush didn't know that if he eases tensions with an oil producing country that gas prices would lower? He isn't that much of an idiot.
This is not very clever manipulation of foriegn policy to affect oil prices. |

none...i work in the industry, indirectly (though i do not support it, but its getting me through college) the margins on fuel right now are through the roof, and the last few weeks have been no different, but i agree with your opinion...i hate being played for a fool and that s exactly whats going on with oil prices right now |

Oil prices are dropping because the world is awash in oil for the time being. The law of supply and demand is operating. Since no pipelines have been dynamited lately and hurricanes have not shut down substantial production facilities, there is more than enough oil about. Refining facilities on the Gulf Coast are coming back on line so there is no shortage of gasoline. Plenty of ethanol plants have come on line lately so that shortage is over. You are crazy to suppose that the oil companies can control the price of oil. Even OPEC has been unable to control the price. Even when gasoline hits $2 per gallon, there will be plenty of profit for the oil companies. |

If the Dems win, they'll say it because of them winning...look how cheap it was when Republicans were in office.
If the Republicans manage to win, they'll say it's because it's winter and demand for heating is raising prices...they'll think of something for the spring excuse. |
