Unfortunately, if you're as good as you are, you going to over step him. I hope that he will learn from you and make himself a better manager from your experience.
Have a talk with him on how you feel. If he blows you off or starts denying you information. make sure you document everything.
Only the best managers know that they do not know everything. |

Is the only promotion available to you HIS job? In that case, you are very much a threat, and he is unlikely to help or aid you in your ambitions. If you have so much knowledge, practical experience and ambition, you should be looking for managerial jobs at competitive companies.
Are they other positions in the company that you are suited for and interested in? In that case, you can likely enlist your boss as a 'mentor' to get his assistance in securing one of those positions - you get promotion, and he gets rid of a threat. |

Just do the best job you can. don't worry about who gets the credit for it. SMILE all the time. volunteer for assignments outside your department so others can see your value. when you get noticed by others, you create your own demand.
this takes time, don't expect it to happen in the next week. |

I don't think that your knowledge is the problem, I think it may be the way you suggest you have experience - which is what you may not have.
Your Manager is someone who depends for his and the company's success on the team and on personal loyalty. You are all a team, and you should not really try to divorce yourself from the team. You should, like a civil servant, be a loyal servant. Managers make a big thing about loyalty- and its very much valued in the UK system and structure of organisations. You should help develop ideas if you think you're smart, and make them a success, and learn from them and the mistakes, and the rewards will be immense when you show your loyalty not only to the company but also to people.
Typically, some ideas will be accepted and rejected. Just go with cabinet responsibility, but be tactful about anticipating problems and do it in a clear and tactful manner.
Also note that you rise as you gain experience- its not a question of knowledge. The dominant view in the UK job market is that rising up is based upon experience, not just knowledge.
It is advisable to use your intellect to plan for future economic situations; follow the current market and develop your ideas so that when it comes to applying for future positions, you will be the best asset the company has because you will have fully developed ideas on how to make economic success. |
