try every April and if your job changes IE more new things added to your workload.....!
i bet your boss as a pay rise every year !!!!!

you can ask for a rise as often as you like, i dont think you can get fired for asking. If your boss values your work and loyalty you should stand agood chance.

I also have to agree with everybody and say you should get some kind of a pay raise each year. But I asked for a pay raise when I worked 6 months later... and normally I got 1/2 what I asked for. (long story short but I was screw... always got paid way less than the man that surfed the internet all day long... not fair)
It might depend on where you work... do you get other bonuses at all? profit sharing? These might play a part into it... maybe.
Good luck! It never hurst to ask though... be ready to show they way you earned the raise!

If you are working for a low hourly wage, annual you should get a cost of living increase wage increase and anything higher your employer thinks you are worth based on your job knowledge.
If you are working for a decent salary, annual or every two year increases are in order just to keep up with cost of living increases not to mention to compensate you for the great job you are doing for the company and for being a long-term asset of the company.
Sure sounds to me you aren't getting what you are worth regardless of what your circumstances are. I would sit your boss down and have a heart to heart talk. They should care more about your value to the company. Not to mention, you have expenses you have to cover!
Hope you get a huge raise - you are worth it!

every year hun - you need some serious backpay

Sweetie, you should get a pay rise every year, to keep up with inflation.
I's speak to a lawyer if I were you. Sounds as if your employer is cheating you roundly.
