Don't feed them bs. Respect them and they will respect you. Listen carefully before speaking, and remember that every employee has feelings.

Effective communication is very subjective. It needs to be handled on a case-to-case basis. However, general guidelines would be:
1. First impression need not always be correct. Listen to their views in an unbiased manner.
2. Keep your communication polite yet firm. If a No needs to be said, it just HAS to be said.
3. Keep your mind open and accept their opinions in a logical manner (do not overreact even if you disagree with the other person. Just gently tell him/her they he/she is entitled to his/her opinion and you to yours).

Well you'll always continue to keep learning in this area. . Every person has there own makeup about themselves what works for one person when your communicating to an employee may not work for the next . I would get to know your employees . and you can go from there. for instance some need a kick in the azz sometimes and others are very shy and try but can't quit get things and dont' wish to be called out or made to feel dumb..

This will come in time as you learn your group.

but always have an open door policy be fair have active listening skills . show empathy where its needed and praise but also don't be a push over if you get a hard azz or someone trying to put circles around you. Try to work as a team and be involved with the employee show them you care not just mouth the words. I really belive people can tell when you care verses the person who is fake you see right through those people.

let them know your there for them and you expect a good job done and in return you will do the same.
