I used to work there, you have to go talk to personnel and see if they have any positions open for full time. They may not have any for that department. If they don't you have to wait 6 months to move to a different department. I worked there for 2 years in produce as a part time employee and I asked several times about being full time,
First you need to talk to your department manager, then your assistant manager then store manager. But I would ask personnel first and see what they say.

It's is not easy to get full time at Wal-Mart, or most other jobs. Simply because they have to supply benefits to full time Associates. I have worked for Wal-Mart a little over a year and just recently got a full time position. You have to be a really good worker. My advice is too always be on time, help every customer you possibly can and ALWAYS have happy positive attitude. Some people have said Wal-Mart does not care about their employees. Well first of all, its Associates, not employees. You will never be called an "employee" at Wal-Mart. Second of all, they care about their Associates to a point. If you're a crappy Associate, they don't treasure you very well. If you're not, then they do all they can for you. The higher up in management you go, the less they care about you. Just keep asking your department manager about full time and she will ask personnel and push for you. But you have to do your best. I recommend moving from the food side as quickly as possible, i hear it sucks. I work in the Photo Lab and we are a pay grade 5 and we do hardly any work at all, so i strive for there. Good luck with Wal-Mart, I think you'll like once you get used to it. |

im trying to get a job there too....if your smart enough to look at the news and stock Walmart is doing the best...so you atleast will know your chances of getting laid off....like people dont think about those things...like who cares how they treating you as long as they are coughing up green |
