How to give my boss my resignation letter??? HELP QUICK?
I don't know how to hand it to them. I am quitting b/c I recently had a car wreck and had to miss alot and they have treated me like crap since I came back and give me heck when I have dr's apointments. I actually have 2 bosses, the owner and the business mgr. Who do I go to first? Do I just hand it to them and walk away talk to them what?
I also don't want to do the 2 week thing b/c the will make it hell while I'm here but I want to be the respectful one here. How can I tell them I don't have to do the 2 weeks if you don't want me to??????? HELP

Obviously, tell both the manager and the owner. The odds are, that if they have not treated you right, they may just say don't bother coming in for the last two weeks. If they ask why you are leaving, explain (as you said respectfully) that you feel that the company's attitude seems to have changed since your accident, that you no longer feel welcome, and that you think, given the situation, it would be best for all that you resign so they can fill the position with someone they are more comfortable with.

You may just find that they did not intend for this to happen and they may ask you to stay and things will get better. If they did intend for you to feel like you do, then you will know this also.

Type up the letter without a two week notice and hand it to your immediate boss. Then say, this is my letter of resignation. I believe it suits both of us well. Don't worry about anything negative on a referral. They don't want to be sued. Your leaving will say one word....Resignation or Termination. Former means you left and the later means you were fired. I did work at a Govt. agency regarding civil rights of employees and this is how it's handled. Make sure you do not have termination on your record. If you do because they are angry, go after them through EEOC or your State Civil Rights to have the wording changed. And if you have to do this ask for punitive dammages as well (MONEY) They cannot discredit you. Good luck.

Well, if you are being professional about it, you need to give them notice, if not two weeks one week. . . .
Sounds like there's no love lost between you and them, and they may say you're done when you hand in resignation letter.
They may figure that you have missed a lot of work, continue to miss, and have become a liability rather than an asset to company and be glad to be rid of you. . . .of course this means your insurance will terminate or you'll have to pay for it. . . .
There's no law that says you have to do the professional thing and give them notice. . . .but I won't hire anyone that unprofessional, who leaves without giving any notice. . . .
Just hand it to them, usually at end of day. . .

I agree with Steve D. Just give either of them your resignation and hopefully they will treat you right or let you go. Either way move on and stay positive.

The question leads me to believe you are not exactly happy with your job even beyond the conditions created by the car wreck. The important thing in this world is not to "burn bridges." While you can internally loathe what is happening to you it is best just to move on. If they care so little about you whatever you say won't matter anyway.

I would highly recommend giving the two weeks notice. Once you quit there is little problems they can give you since there is no real obligation to be exceptionally nice, just do you job and nothing more. Chances are they will honor your two weeks notice by giving you two weeks' pay and letting you leave immediately. It gives you a little boost to help you move on.

Generally you issue the notice to your direct supervisor, but it sounds like these folks haven't been so fair that they give you direction from multiple sources. If that is the case then you won't miss this job much. I would write a very nice letter stating you appreciate the opportunity they have given you but you feel that it is time for you to expand your career. Give the letter to the owner and a copy to the business manager with the letter addressed to the owner. Be cordial and direct. Try not to criticize. Future employers may contact them.

Sometimes it is difficult to let things go. But internally you know how you feel and what you say won't change their perception. "Take the high road" and leave with your best face.

The two weeks of hell you go through guarantees that you leave with a good reference. Give your resignation to the business manager and owner, cc to owner if email. Definitely give two weeks though. You may need to get unemployment and it will look better, and may save you from penalties. You could just tell HR or your boss how you feel instead of being a sucky drama queen about it. Yeah I said it.
