I had this same question when I was about 14. I new I wanted to become a CEO, I just didn't know how to get there. I don't know how old you are right now, but what you need to do in high school, is do well in school, and do a lot of soul searching. Take a variety of classes, open up your world to new experiences. Do the same in college.
Many people will probably say to you, "It's who you know." You are probably thinking to yourself, I don't know any CEOs, I don't know those type of people. It isn't about who you know initially. Work hard, take part in internships, and you will begin to meet people. I can guarantee you an employer would much rather hire someone that is known to have good work ethic over someone who is a loser nephew in the family.
Now the next question is probably what should I major in in college? There isn't a major called CEO! I majored in Political Science. To become a CEO, it doesn't matter what you major in, it matters what you do outside of school. How much do you challenge yourself while in school. My Junior year in college I was a Senior District Manager at a major corporation through an internship I took my Freshman year. Don't just take a job working at some retail or fast food store in college, set yourself apart from your peers. Challenge yourself, learn your weaknesses now not in the work force. Do you need an MBA? A Doctorate? NO. If you want to work for a CEO, get your MBA, but if you want to be the CEO, you don't need an MBA. You need an understanding for how a business is run, an understanding for the industry. Some people may say that is not correct, parents or advisers, but I want you to do your own research. Look at some of the wealthiest, most successful CEO's in the world. Many of them do not have an MBA. You need to have good work ethic. Many people have said, to become a CEO, it requires luck, but YOU create your own luck.
Entrepreneurship is one way to become a CEO. You have to have an idea, something that will improve people's way of living. You can also become a CEO of a corporation already founded, but you definitely need to set yourself apart from others by doing the impossible in college. WORK HARD, your work ethic will carry you to success. Find an industry that you are PASSIONATE for. You can't be a leader in a field if you aren't one of the best, and to be the best, you must be passionate with what you do. |

What I would do is start reading about finances, management, and accounting. since you're only 13 take it slow, also when you get older like 17 I would try to get involved in after school programs that pertain to business. Make sure you have lots of contacts. |
