She definitely did it to degrade you. What I don't understand though is the fact that the receptionists have to do the cleaning? Don't you have a cleaner for that?
You need to speak to her about why she did that in front of all the patients and staff. Tell her it upset you and that you will not be spoken to like that. Tell the Doctor and ask his/her advice. |

Sounds like part of your job - albeit there is a rota.
Maybe they needed doing then and there was no one else available.

Bloody hell, theres people out there struggling to keep there homes because they've lost their jobs and your moaning about being asked to clean some toilets which is part of your duty anyway.
Toughen Up!!!! and stop using HR speak like 'degrading and humiliating'

Really need more information. Was she nasty when she asked you to do those things? Regardless, if she is the manager, you really just need to do what she asks. If you are unhappy, then perhaps you should start seeking other opportunities for employment.

Despite what you may think, in my many years in management positions i have never come across a manager who specifically tried to degrade and humiliate a subordinate.
I can quite easily visualise a scenario where the reception was quiet and you were reading a book, doing your nails, on your mobile or whatever and your manager, seeing other staff were busy, asked you to clean the toilets to give you something productive to do.
If you so strenuously object to an isolated instance of sanitation upgrading you could tell them where to stick their job - to the delight of all the local job seekers. |

Unless it is part of your job description there is a problem. I would talk to HR, and if she isn't your manager I would talk to your direct supervisor. |
