chris l | I can answer your wal-mart question!!? |
Ok so being my dad is very high up in wal-mart actually, right under the president. Do you guy's realize that all other retailer's get product from china as well. Is it ok to bash wal-mart because they are the biggest. I do not work there im just a 22 yr old kid who lives off my dad who has a butt load of stock and works there. Now in a recession i would think the customers would be happy to have such low prices. If you guys want american made goods guess what?? Wal-mart can get them lol they just know you wont pay for them. But we can not bring american jobs back here until the american people are willing to pay the price for an american product. These days, this can not happen they have already tried. Anyways, my question to you is, since i know a lot about wal-mart what questions can i answer for you guys?? Additional Details R.T good question.. First off wal-mart is a company that does hire and promote from within. Now your friend, it would depend on timing what was available and what market area he worked in. You have to understand wal-mart has a lot of employees stealing, time clock fraud, and not giving 100% everyday. We would pay more but the turn over rate is so high no one want's to take the risk. Do you know that some managers make over 50k a year and some store managers make over 300k a year plus bonus. There are a lot of perks but due to lack of dedication it is hard to know who to trust. You would understand more if you payed 5k to train an employee just for them to turn around and quit in a month. It is a risky business, the employee takes a chance with the company and we take a chance as well. As to you second question?? There are a lot of happy wal-mart employees when it comes to their paychecks. We have many bonus opportunities as well as advancement opportunities. |

<<Do you guy's realize that all other retailer's get product from china as well.>>
yes, we do. but other retailers don't tell their suppliers that, if they don't move their production out of the US, to some place like China, then walmart will find someone in China to make the product, and that supplier will be forced out of business.
it may well be that if walmart wasn't doing it, someone else would be. however, walmart is actively forcing jobs to be transferred out of the country. obviously the fact that 10,000,000 are out of work isn't a problem for you. but there are millions of kids whose parents are having trouble buying food, not to mention christmas presents.
<<Is it ok to bash wal-mart because they are the biggest.>>
you seem to be missing the point. we don't have trouble with them being the biggest. we have trouble with them causing the most lost jobs in the country.
<<Now in a recession i would think the customers would be happy to have such low prices.>> <im just a 22 yr old kid who lives off my dad>
let's see. if i have no job, because walmart made my company move the job i had to china, and i need to feed my kids, then i am going to find some place cheap to shop. it may be that i do go to walmart. i am not going to think that they have done anyone a service however. anyone other than a bunch of rich kids, sponging off their dads.
<<These days, this can not happen (bring American jobs back) they have already tried.>>
oh? somehow i rather doubt it. if they have, it never made the news. and, with all the bad press they're getting, one would think that they'd try to get it into the news. |

Nothing. I and many other Americans already know this. One, one out of four households has had a member that has worked at WalMart, and two, WalMart is pretty open with their employees about what is going on. You have no new information here, buddy. We know how the world works, people just like to complain. |

I understand about the pricing issues and the cost of Made In America at American wages.
There is a little problem here, though, and Wal-mart can do more to help with that problem.
People would be able to pay for American made goods if people were making more money. Especially in the big companies like Wal-mart. One of my friends worked there for 3 years while he finished up his college degree in Business Management. The whole time he was there he was paid minimum wage. Always on time. Worked unpaid overtime. Never had any problems or disciplinary action. Never got a raise or a promotion. Not even after he graduated college.
Why doesn't Wal-mart treat their workers better and give them better pay?
Now that they've gone through the legal system and have agreed to pay all those millions in back wages for the unpaid overtime, I'm hoping that it changes things for the future.
See, Wal-mart really does set the standard. If they take the responsibility to treat American workers right and set the standard to show that it can be done, other companies would fall in line. Or go out of business.
Don't they think the American public will rally around any company that leads in business by putting the workers first, and showing it in their paychecks? |

Chris, I worked for Wal-Mart over 20 years ago, and all the money in the world could not get me to work for them again. Most of Wal-Mart's employees are part-time and do not receive many benefits. I don't know where you live, but I would like to know where in the USA a Wal-Mart manager makes over 50K a year. Over the past few years, Wal-Mart has remodeled its stores and is carrying inferior products, especially their clothing. Wal-Mart will price comp, but have you noticed that they manage to stock items that are not comparable to the items in the local stores?
At 22, you think you know everything. Until you move out on your own and support yourself, you can't answer our questions. |
