I try to prevent it with controling my environment. When it flairs up it is very expensive even with insurance. They copays are so high on medications. Is there anyway to get the cirgarette industry to pay for these? I developed these problems from my parents smoking when I was a child. I never smoked myself. Can philip morris pay for my Asthma care? It can run over $150.00 on copays with insurance for a months care.

You would have to call a lawyer.I know the asthma meds are expensive.My mom has it and I couldn't believe what she has to pay for her stuff.Sometimes you can call the company and tell them you can't afford it.I never tried to do it for her.But it's worth a shot.Good Luck! |

I don't know the answer to the cigarette companies paying for your meds. But I have the same problem, COPD. See if your insurance co. will let you do mail RX where you get 3 months supplies for the copay of one. You have to get your doctor to write a RX for a year at 3 months at a time. That would cut you cost by 2/3 . Good luck |

Your best option would be to find others with your same problem and file a class-action lawsuit.
ALTHOUGH... bear in mind that the company will try and say that you had a predisposition to develop asthma WITHOUT the presence of second-hand smoke. |

You probably didn't get asthma from second hand smoke. Studies have proved that people are both with it, and it doesn't come from second hand smoke.
Second hand smoke does make your asthma worse, so you would have to blame your parents for that. Sorry. |
