I don't like my job, but I can't quit. What can/should I do?
I have been at this corporation for 10 years. Lately, I am not the biggest fan. I am a professional with an MBA and Six Sigma training. What should I do? What can I do? I have a family and am afraid to quit and the job scene has not picked up and bills still need to be paid.

I just can't quit and I make almost six figures. The market is not that good to get a salary like that, you know what I mean?

While you keep your feelers out for the possibility of change, you need to do something to make yourself feel your life is more worthwhile, something that brings you joy. It's nice if our work brings us joy, but sometimes a job is just a job, a means to an end. So look at the rest of your life. You have a family. Some friends outside work, I hope. Do you have any interests or passions outside of work that you can pursue either with your family or on your own? You make good money, meaning you can probably afford to travel, to take classes in something you find interesting that isn't related to your work, whatever turns you on. That's the main point. Focus on making your life outside work more interesting and compelling. Work may still be a drag, but you won't be. When the time is right, you can move on work wise, but in the meantime you may have realized that your life outside work is more important anyway.

I happen to be in a similar situation without the MBA and Six Sigma. I am going to suggest you throw a resume on several sites. Put the hook out there and see if you get any bites. That will at least tell you if there are any interested companies. Right now you are guessing how the job market is. Test it and then you will know, YOU will also be very surprised.
Is www.USAJOBS.gov a possibility??

ok, first off you can quit, just you don't want to be with out the cash, but yes you can quit.

just start looking for something new, once you find it, leave your current job. Your not a slave, you can go anywhere you like.

Look for a different job, but try to enjoy the job you have while you are there. This should be easy it does allow you to have your entire lifestyle.

I'm a freelancer but I try to take up jobs from time to time. But I usually quit or am fired because I'm always one feet on the boat and one feet on the shore... I have to say it takes TIME to start picking up a freelance career, just like it takes time to build a career like yours and reach six digits... so my advice would be to negotiate and/or apply to other places. You might find good sides and bad sides... unless you have an idea and want to start your own thing.. then you might want to assemble a team for that - but there is still a time problem. Good luck.
