There are super stores in California. There are no super stores in Los Angeles, but not because Walmart would not like to build superstores in Los Angeles. The problem in Los Angeles is every move by Walmart is opposed by a very vocal opposition. Walmart's attitude to opposition from the community is generally to go quiet and see if they can sneak in the back door. That strategy hasn't worked in LA. My guess is that when Walmart needs to grow LA they will get serious. When they have got serious in the past, they open up their check book and buy everything, including politicians, in sight. It is just a matter of time in LA. |
