I filed a claim with American Airlines 3 weeks ago, they reps or rude and uninformative. They tell me one thing is policy, but when I check the web site I see that I have been misinformed. When I ask to speak to a supervisor they say one will call me back in 24 to 48 hours. Every piece of clothing my son had was in that baggage (we were moving to miami). I have had to spend more money trying to replace some of the necessary items. But I am fustrated and i want to know what rights I have as a consumer.

You are entitled to a fixed $ per bag (I'm thinking like $1,000)...they are stalling in hopes that they find it...work with their customer service either over the phone or online...document the heck out of every call...get everyone's names, the times you called, claim #, etc...they have a system that tracks each of the calls so there should already be a dossier on you...when someone picks up on customer service give them the claim number and make sure they pull up the info on their system...make sure they are looking at it...say for example, "I spoke with Mary at 4:00 yesterday and she said a supervisor would be getting back to me by 12:00 today, blah, blah, blah...When all else fails, send an email to the head of American Airlines, the board of directors, any VP you can get a hold of, etc...good luck |
