If you have no clue why you got the check, it's almost certainly a scam. |

The scam works on relatively honest people in that they take the check and negotiate it. A couple days later, before it clears, the recipient hears from the company expressing dismay at the mistake and asking to please send it back. The actual check is not available so the mark writes a check on the account in which he deposited it and sends it to the company. A couple days later he hears from the bank that the first check was drawn on a non-existent bank and is no good. Just about then, the check written by the mark is deposited and charged to his account. The only way to avoid this is to go the bank upon which the suspect check is drawn and ask them if it is good and cash it there, endorsing it "without recourse." If you can't find the bank upon which it is drawn, that is the sure sign that it is fraudulent. |

Is it unsolicited?
Asking for personal information?from overseas? Spam Emails? 2 good to be true??
If yes, it's a scam!!!

Look at it very closely... if you deposite it it could be a loan check... when you deposit it you accept the terms of the loan. I get these kind of checks weekly and when you call about them they are high interest loans. |
