Fernesta | I had an unpleasant incident with a Dunkin Donuts drive thru cashier. Are these grounds for termination? |
I went to dunkin donuts with my sister and our friend. I told her a funny story about how my mom made me go bike riding one day and worked me so hard that when I got back I threw up, so we were all laughing, then we ordered 2 ice coffees and a strawberry collatta. I had my gift card with only 60 cents on it, so we gave the cashier a 20 dollar bill aswell. We almost thought that none of us had any money which we also found funny and it made us laugh. (the laughing will be important later on lol)
So, he hands me the collatta but it has no whip cream on it, and my sister ordered whip cream for it so I sent it back, which made them laugh also (because its kinda funny to send back something from dunkin donuts like its an undercooked steak or something)
So, then the cashier handed me back my change, and I asked for my card back because I collect old gift cards and sample credit cards, and my sister and our friend again, laugh because it was funny that I was asking for this card back. Additional Details So, then the guy gives me my card, and hands me the collatta and says " Is something funny?" And I look at him to see if he was talking to me, and saw that he was, so I said "What??!!!?" Then he says "I said is something funny? Because I'm really not in the mood..." SO then I say "Yes actually, something is funny but it is not about you..." so then he cuts me off and says "no im SERIOUSLY not in the Fuc*ing mood today, Like these coffees can end up in your face right now" So i take the first coffee from him so he dosen't throw it at me, so then I say "You know, I'm serioulsy not laughing at you at all. We were having a private conversation and it was none of your business as to why we were laughing..." and he hands me the 2nd coffee. then I continue saying "But we are laughing at you now because you just made a complete fool out of yourself.. You seriously need to relax" then I told my friend to count the change he gave back right in front of her LOL when it was good, we left. |

This guy is obviously very troubled. His biggest punishment is that he clearly doesn't like himself and is not a happy person, or he wouldn't have behaved like that.
You did the right thing, you were having a nice day out with your friends, and he should not have spoken to you that way. Any satisfaction you get should be out of the fact that you are a happy person and he is a miserable git. Even if he keeps the job he may well still be a miserable git. |

yes he can be terminated. He should never use this kind of language around customers or in that tone of voice. he is supposed to promote customers not scare them away. |

k, As a former supervisor this is the reality of it.
What the employee did is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.
However, you responding back was not necessary.
Automatically your position was to request to speak to his immediate supervisor or person in charge and make the initial complaint.
Having had taken immediate action would off given you leverage to your claims (other employees would of witnessed ).
However, you having filed a claim on-line is really what we call "In the back shelf", but there is good news. Be persistent.
I'm sure that a business like Dunken , will not tolerate this kind of behaviour taking place in one of their branches. It's bad for business. Also, you might want to add on one of your notes to Dunken Consumer public Relations dept, if the HR dept did a reference check on this one employee plus a criminal back ground check. This questions are vital and must be addressed when hiring an employee. Address to the dept that you felt intimidated, (when you grabbed the coffee thinking he would throw it at you)... and last but not least, keep copies of all documents, emails that you submit....Good luck and God bless! |

I think cursing at and threatening customers should be grounds for termination. |

The employee you mentioned has got some problems and needs some further training in customer service. However you yourself should just forget about it and move on. You informed the company and that is enough. |

He could be fired but then again there are so few people out there willing to work for little pay he may not. |

I don't think he'd get fired over that unfortunately though that was extremely uncalled for on his part. More than likely he will only get a warning from his manager. Had he thrown that drink at you or your sister he would have been fired on the spot. Good luck, that sounds really frustrating. |

He could be fired for using profanity but who knows. Just make sure to complain to the district manager. |

I would hope so. That was rude of him. If you were disturbing other guests by acting up in the store...I could see him asking you to leave, but that doesn't seem to be the case, not to mention...he has NO reason to EVER swear at a customer. Don't dwell on it though. You told the proper people. That's all you can do. |

Absolutely, but i perfer you call the manager or the territory manager(the manger in charge of the manager of that store). Or you can call the 1-800 # and tell them. E-mails take from weeks to months until they take action. |

Being rude to a customer in any shape or fashion SHOULD be a cause for termination - even when prompted. (and you didn't)
You should talk to the store manager and discuss the issue.
Then, drop it. It is NOT worth wasting your time. Pick a different store if you want donuts again. |

They will look at his record . If this a repeat offence He may be fired..Its hard to get rid of someone now. In Vancouver BC. A bus driver spit on a passenger that had spit on him. The case is under review. the whole thing was on TV |

that was rude of him. That could be ground for termination but it all depends on the manager |

Why did you feel the need to make fun of the Dunkin' Donuts guy? He was just trying to earn an honest dollar. He could be out robing your house... |
|

Faither
|
Well maybe not grounds for dismissal.. he'll probably be reprimanded, get a warning, that sort of thing. If he had actually thrown the coffee at you - yeah definitely grounds for dismissal. But his attitude should better shape up or he'll be losing his job. |

It sounds as if you were quite rude to this guy. How hard would it had been to stop your foolishness long enough to order? You sound pretty irritating to me. I'm on the guys side, I''m sure a lot of your giggling was to show off for the guy that waited on you.You absolutely have no idea what he had been going through with other rude customers. Get off his back, I wish I knew where you worked so I could reciprocate this treatment to you. The guy is trying to work and you feel its up to you to get him fired. Why? He certainly wasn't there for your entertainment, I can't say as I blame him for his outburst. |

It sounds to me like you're kind of a jerk...and maybe you should tell me where you work so I can go and do that to you. In fact, I say all of us on yahoo go and bother you at work - wouldn't THAT be funny? |

First, real men only have 2 kinds of coffee, regular and decaf. If I worked at a coffee or donut shop and some guy ordered a tall skinny mocha latte with whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkles or whatever it is you ordered I would be pissed too. I have to side with him on this. You also lose your man card. |
