I hate company Politics. How can you avoid it?

Unfortunately it's almost impossible. Other than to just keep to yourself and not communicate with people much. Bad part is -- it would get lonely. I hate being in a position where the politics are bad but at the same time I'm unemployed right now and wish I had a job to go to. Rent due today and I don't have it.

there is such a thing as "diplomacy", that is --- letting someone else do hat you want in their own way. Being civil and diplomatic will give you a position above the politics inside the office.

However, if you don't have the knack for this --- get out of the way! And FAST...

Try to stay neutral as much as possible. The least said the better around the office water cooler. Always remember that
someone who you think may be your work 'friend' could be the one taking back everything you say to those higher on the 'food chain.' Best advice is to do your job right, that speaks volumes.

You can't... You can either learn to play, or accept that because you don't play, things are going to be difficult. My personal choice is to participate only in certain things -- IE company charities. I believe in the work the charities my company sponsors, so I don't feel like I'm compromising myself by participating. I do something I enjoy, and it looks good to management. If there's a promotion I want, I go right to the manager in charge and say "What do I need to do to be considered for this position?" But on the day to day games and positioning, I stay out of it as much as I can. The plus side, is if you have thinking people in higher positions, they see that you're not a gossip, and that you want to do your job. The negative side is that if the people who are your superiors are ALL about politics, they'll ignore you for promotion.

Most of the company politics I've encountered tends to lean more towards gossip and scoring brownie points by being a butt kisser. Keep out of the gossip -- it will come back and bite you. Brownie points are best earned when you can make the effort without doing something you find to be against your personal code.

Politics are a part of everything; companies, social groups, education, even to a certain extent, family dynamics. Make a decision on what you will and won't do, and keep that as an integral part of your work life.

Just don't get involved. And whatever you do, don't pick sides (at least openly), because that will drag you right in.

The best way is to avoid it altogether. Don't get caught up in gossip, and let your performance do the talking. If you are a solid worker, do a great job, and get results, a good management team will recognize and reward for that. Most people playing company politics are trying to get ahead without working for it. As far as your peers go, play nice with them and don't talk bad about them. That's the best way to avoid the political game with them. Good luck.

When you are in the system, you can never avoid being affected by the system. So what you are left with is something that is obvious and inevitable, so what you can do is grin and bear it all or you can train yourself not to get hurt by petty politics, I am sure there are much more important things in your life to think about than mere company politics. You can live with it if you try not to give much importance to it.

Regards.
P.S. Tell me if it worked.

imho, the only way to avoid company politics is to stay away and isolate yourself ... watch the movie office space.
