I work at Walmart (Automotive department). I've been sick with the flu for two days now. I called off the first day without any problems. I woke up this morning at 5 AM feeling worse than ever and knew I still couldn't work and called again. I did everything I was supposed to do which was call the associate hotline to report the absense. When I was transferred to the store to tell a manager, I got the Co-Manager. I told him I was sick and out of the friggin blue, he says that I am gonna be considered an unexcused absence and he made it clear he was putting it on my record! This pissed me off! I don't know why he did that. I did everything I was supposed to. It was only my 2nd day in a row. Is there anyone who can tell me why they would consider me unexcused when I did everything the right way? I really am sick here. Is this some stupid reason to deny me the ability to use my sick hours (which I have a lot of at this point)? Anyone, especially a fellow manager out there, please answer!! |

If you're really sick. go to the doctor, get a note. and go in person to talk to the manager. show him the note for the second day being sick and tell him you thought you'd come to work sick since you're not able to use sick time.
BTW, if you were pretty sick the first day, it may have been nice of you to let them know you may be out another day. And you'd know for sure after seeing the doctor. |

The rules are no doubt different all over the world and for different companies - however in my part of the world - a Doctor's certificate is required for the second and subsequent days sick leave. The manager you spoke to may not have explained this properly - or may just have been in a bad mood - about being left short staffed.
An "unexplained" absence only really refers to you not showing up at the agreed time and not phoning to explain why.
I suggest you see your Dr and get a certificate.
I'd also suggest you concentrate on getting well and getting back to work. |

Hi there, in most cases in companies, you must produce a medical cert on the third day of sick leave, you should check your companies sick leave policy |

Sounds like your boss is an *** hole, Maybe he is puting it on your record so one day he can fire you, maybe he secretly doesn't like you. Anyway just thought I'd mention this, If you drink green tea about 4 cups a day i guarantee you wont get sick, It's a free radical eater, anti oxidant, i swear by it , I haven't been sick for years now and i used to all ways get sick with the common cold or local viruses |
