Making untrue statements concerning a person's character that are derogatory, insulting & harmful to the person's reputation is called slander. If you have been slandered, your are free to sue the individual who slandered you. The burden of proof is on the defendant (the one who slandered you). They have to prove that the statements are true. You do not have to prove that they are false. |

I would take legal action. People need to make sure what comes out of their mouth is true!! And you can also tell that person has nothing else better to do!! Get a copy of the tape to take to the attorney as well. Good Luck. |

You can sue anyone you want. You do have to prove that it did serious damage to your personal or professional life. I wouldn't reccomend suing this person. What was your response when you were accused? Talk to the board and set the record straight. |

You can sue for defamation of character. Perhaps the judge will assess court costs and assign them to the person who made the comment. |

Sue for defamation.
Read your by-laws. The officers may be protected from suits by property owners. It was done in my neighborhood once.
I'd take a copy of the restrictions to an attorney, pronto. That's a serious charge. |
