~~There are no regulations against it, it would just be the policy of the business you are working for that would decide that.~~

Unless you work for a company that has a clause saying you can't work for a competitor within a certain period of time, no, you can work where you want.

You can work for another retail business while being employed in retail BUT many retail stores have non-competition clauses in the employment contracts which bar you from seeking employment in a competing store.

If you work for Best Buy, you can't work for Circuit City. If you work for Target, you can't work for Wal-mart and so forth.

False.
If the company has a policy against it, they can impose that on you.

True, it's called Conflict of Interest. You can't work for a retail business that is competitive to the one you are currently employed at. Example... you cannot work for Guess? and Bebe.

If you work for a company who has many diffrent stores under its name, then no you can't. Expample the company, Charming, who owns the Fashion Bug stores also own the Catherine stores too. you see! but if you work for say walmart and are also working for say krogers you are wrong there too becuse the are in compition. But say you work for Krogers, grocery, and you also work for American Eagle, clothing, that ok.
