Recently in The Times of India there was an article / advertisement about Pizza delivery Companies which guarantee you free pizza if they fail to deliver within the specified time (like 30 minutes). Have you ever wondered who pays for the free pizzas??
Well, the delivery boy is made to pay for the pizza. They are paid such low wages and the price of the pizza is deducted from their monthly wages which can amount to upto 60% in some months (It becomes difficult to run their family). To deliver the pizzas the delivery boys take high traffic risks as delivery becomes their priority. Their life and safety risks are neither looked into by the Pizza Shop Management nor the Pizza Delivery Boy himself. (They are more concerned to avoid the deduction from their salary).
If this type of exploitation is carried on in your city's pizza logistics we should stop availing the home delivery system, because to deliver our pizza one person may be risking his life........ |

There is nothing new in this system supplying free pizza as compensation against late or wrong delivery.
I am sure the delivery-boys do not pay for it... the expenses are borne by the pizza company. Look if the company asks the delivery boy to pay for such marketing schemes they would not find any body to join them as their employee.
I have seen in US... they supply a free pizza against certain wrong delivery. |

I know for sure that DOMINOE'S and PIZZA HUT *DO NOT* charge their delivery boys for delayed pizzas. DOMINOE'S has in fact started adding a pamphlet with every home delivery they make stating that THEY DO NOT MAKE THE PIZZA DELIVERY BOYS PAY. I personally spoke to one of the pizza guys from PIZZA HUT when he delivered the pizza late whether he will be charged. His answer was NO. |

I would never complain about a late delivery for any pizza. I always tip servers very well. |

First of all, I think prety much all the major pizza places have these guarantees but most no one actually ever claims a free pizza.
Second of all, I think we would have heard about a major problem with dying pizza delivery boys. If being a pizza boy was actually that dangerous, necessarily, wages would rise for that job so that people would take it. People looking for pizza delivery jobs can get a job delivering most anything else.
I think it's probably true that they get charged for a late pizza if it's their fault, but I'm not inclined to believe there's an epidemic of dying pizza boys rushing to make the 30 min deadline. |

It's true. I also know of a restaurant that charges the waitresses for mistakes on their tickets. Makes for greater accuracy. Waitresses think about what they are doing. Also cultivates a better attitude toward customers.
BTW, if you can't afford a tip, DON'T eat out or order in. Those are luxuries. If you can't pay for the luxury, don't expect it. |

It's not true that when Pizza boy get late the whole price of Pizza is deducted from his salary, it's actually some percentage of price that gets deducted.
Not complaining about the delay is not a solution because it's a part of there service. We should rather emphasise on eradicating this rule from there service offerings. |
