I shipped an Item I sold on Ebay to the wrong address?
I shipped an Item I sold on Ebay to the wrong address..the apartment buildings address was ok, but I made a mistake on the apartment number, 105 instead of 1105, I did have a delivery confirmation number and it was delivered to 105.. obviously the package was kept by 105...My question is "what will the post office do about it even though it was my mistake?
As it is addressed to that address - it legally must go there. Of course if its the wrong person they are legally required to return to sender (fingers crossed for you they do that). You could also contact the buyer - tell them your mistake, tell them you are limited to fingers crossed they return to sender - if this is near them, could they pop a note in the letterbox or knock on the door of 105 to let them know of the mistake package being delivered and they'll pick it up.

Wow the person kept it? The delivery person if they handed it to someone should of maybe figured it out, so the person basically stole your package. I do not know if there is anything you can do. You need to call and find out, you may have to refund the person money and appologize to them. The post office does not have to ask for ID, I dont know if they go after for someone or not for keeping mail not thiers, I knda doubt they have the time to deal with this. If you can get the number to the manager of the bldg and ask them to please get this package, or the seller themself go and get it, communication will be key in getting this done.

did u put your address on the parcel? if so and if no one clames it they will send it back. i would still contact royal mail tho.
you will get neg feedback for this so appologise to the seller and let them know

The odds that 105 and 1105 exist in the same apartment building are extremely low. The mail man probably assumed the correct apt #. Have you contacted the buyer to confirm that they got it?
*edit*
It is a federal offense for someone to keep a package that is not addressed to them. It is everyone's responsibility to return a package or letter that does not belong to them. If you have proof of delivery, it is that person's responsibility to return it to you. They should have never signed for it if it wasn't addressed to them and if they did, that is a federal offense as well.
But are you sure it didn't go the right person?

Send a message, a letter obviously to the address asking to return the item. Offer to pay for the postage. If they still refuse I don't know if you could take them court over it.
But at the least if you can't resolve it with them you should refund the money to the person that was supposed to get the package.
Or seeing as they live in the same area of the delivery, have them go to work it out.
This could get ugly.

Either return it to you, destroy it, or auction it

Why should they do anything? They did what you told them to do.
