I think I'm being conned on eBay?
I bidded on a guitar multi effects pedal on eBay and everytime I bid it says there is a higher bid by Bidder1 which happened yesterday. When I rebid it just changes the value of his last bid to higher so it looks like I bidded 5 times in a row. I questioned the seller and he says that there are 4 bidders. It seems like some kind of fraud to me but maybe it could be an error.
The item number is 130267211800
The member name is markbanjovi
This is the address of the item http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130267211800&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123
Please help me :(

Another bidder put their maximum bid up. This means that it will continue to rise above what you bid until you reach his maximum. If nobody bids, however, it stays at the value he initially bid for.

Lady Anne
Someone may have a higher maximum bid than you. If so, they are going to continually have the higher bid until you finally outbid their maximum bid.

just some guy
you're not . it just that the highest bidder has set a max bid say $10 then every bid up to 10 will be automatically bid for him/her. wait till there are like two minutes left and then make a bid of the most you are willing to pay for it. best way to ebay

It's a maximum bid. He put in the highest he would pay, and ebay automatically puts in his bids up until that point.
You can do it too.

I would just bid at the very last second. It's most likely the owner of the item bidding with a different account on his own item. He's probably just trying to jack up the price and how many bids are on his item. If it's not the owner, then the more times you go back and forth bidding, the more expensive it will be for one of you. Just don't bid 'til the last second.
