retro_kittie | I want a raise but...? |
I'm scared to ask. My company is on a serious budget this year since we've added another building to the branch I work at. I was promoted in Feb but still haven't seen a raise. My last raise was in Oct of 2007 and it was more that I was expecting. But that what based on my preformance prior. I have more on my plate now, so show me the money! Im just scared to ask. I have a great relationship with my supervisor I just don't know how long I should wait or if I even should. |

If you've already been promoted, then you shouldn't be afraid to ask for the raise that you deserve. Don't wait, do it now. |

Just ask if you will be getting a raise soon since u were promoted and hint that you want one. Go for it, you'll probubly be rewarded. |

I am assuming you meant Oct. of 2006. If that is the case, normal raises arent but about once a year. Since you were promoted, however, I think you should ask. There is nothing wrong with it as long as you approach it nicely of course. Just tell them that you feel like you have gained more duties and that you deserve that to be reflected in your pay. You have nothing to lose, and I seriously doubt they would penalize you for asking for a raise. Go for it!!! The only person who is going to take care of you is you. |

The best way to find out what you're worth in a free market economy is to go for some job interviews. See what they offer. If they offer more than what you are making, go have a discussion with your supervisor. If not, then you're probably in a good place regarding your salary. |

You got a raise seven months ago, more than you expected, and you're expecting another one? What did they say in Feb when you got the promotion? Unless they said you'd be getting a raise for it soon, then it probably isn't going to happen, especially if finances are tight right now. If you were going to get a raise with the promotion, you'd probably have gotten it in February. |

Just ask, it'll show your boss initiative, and getting a recent has nothing to do with your current promotion.
with all promotions, comes a raise, otherwise, it's just a change in title...
The worst that could happen is your boss will say not right now. but at least you'll get some kind of answer instead of being in limbo. |
