You might be able to get a grant if your business is a registered non-profit, and has a mission statement with a charitable cause. If you are in it to make money, you need a loan, not a grant.

Depending on your business model or product you should consider SBIR as an option. Many research and business' tap into these funds.

Some local councils will give a grant to start up a new business...go and enquire at your local town hall

You need to research your options. Depending on where you live& what sector you are in (and maybe your gender), you might be able to access different grants such as set aside for women entreprenuers, local government growth intiatives or just specific to your sector. But you must bear in mind that grants can only be a portion of the money you will need for your business so you need to determine your financing options. Good luck and when you've made loads, share some with me. (lol)
