Walmart pays the market clearing wage. If it didn't, it wouldn't be able to fills its open positions. If you think that you deserve more, then get another job. If you don't have the skills to get a better paying job, then get your a** back in school and get them.
In either case, stop being a little socialist whiner. If you want a better lot in life, then you need to provide services that are more highly valued by the market. |

If people don't like how much they get paid, get a new job. There are plenty of them out there. Wal-Mart does should not feel guilty about not paying low skilled jobs $100,000 a year. |

Well i work there now and I make about $16 as a department manager. My husband is supervisor at Best Buy, he makes $18. They are competitive with what the state laws are. I have great benefits. They offer different insurances and pay for 401k & profitsharing. MIne is almost at $11,000 and I havent invested a $1. The only thing I dont like is that new hires make more or the same as people that have been here for a while. Weird system. Its also not wal-mart keeping the cost of living high. My rent in southern california is $1,500 for a 3 bedroom house. Gas is currently $3.25. Car insurance.. car payments... its life. |

I have plenty of friends who work at walmart. they don't see that the problem is. they knew how much the pay was when the took the job, and obviously walmart pays livable wages, since all my friends are still alive. |

I think it's up to the government to change minimum wage instead of people complaining their jobs dont pay enough..its a bunch of things involved here...cost of living, minimum wage, expiereince, education, these are all factors in determining pay.but when it comes down to it Companies cant pay less than the MINIMUM WAGE set by the law. Take it up wiht your govenor. You can live off basicly nothing if you budget money, save, and not blow 30 bucks on a pair of jeans |

Well, wal-mart couldn't handle it in Germany. The government in Germany requires $9.50/hour, plus paid holidays, no Sundays, plus health insurance. It was sad. Such requirements made the prices from wal-mart no different from the many little 1-room businesses. wal-mart couldn't gut the little towns.
So, we'll have to say it is GOVERNMENT that decides who does and who does not get wealth. |

I use to work there when i was 18,I quit 4 months latter because of the low salary I had to get a second job just to be able to live.So yes they do most definitely. |

I think if you are making minimum wage you can only really support yourself, not anyone else, but I think it can be done. |

that's not good. You better find a job that has future. Wal-Mart is not a good place to work anyways.
I recommend you get nurse certification etc and get paid 20+/hour and benefits...

Companies pay what the market demands. In other words, if people refused to work for those wages, they'd have to change their tune. However, it becomes a vicious cycle, because companies that have to pay more for their employees turn around and raise their prices to offset the difference (and then some.)
So, even though you may make more money, you still can't really afford much more with it. (In fact, you may go backwards in that scenario.) That's what they call "inflation."
