It depends on the state you live in. For example there are 3 states that I know of where they don't have to pay overtime Texas, Oklahoma & Kansas. The reason for the no overtime. Is it is considered agricultural. These 3 states that I know of don't have to pay overtime for farm workers, feed lots and jobs like that.

I believe overtime is a federal law. There are some exeptions like if you are a salaried worker vs. an hourly worker. If you are hourly I know that overtime is mandatory.
