Scream!!!
IF Wal-Mart if soooo rich. . .!?!?!?
. . .then why don't they upgrade their cash registers?? They don't even use computers in their check-up line while other smaller corporations already have that installed. . .they do have self check-out, but no computers?!?!

Their cash registers are tied into a huge network. WalMart is soooo rich because their unite their shipping and ordering from common hub stations around the United States. Look atop the building, and you will see satellite dishes; those dishes keep in constant contact with the overall worldwide WalMart global network. Each register connects with a common database within the store and monitors sales and inventory. When stock runs low, the database in the store connects with the main distribution center for the region and orders more. Companies that filed for bankruptcy, like KMart, were ordering stock individually on a store by store basis from different suppliers - highly inefficient. With super-buying power and a hub of distribution, WalMart saves billions each year, which becomes a) profit for them and b) lower prices for you. It might look like a cash register, but it is so much more.

I don't even know what to tell you here. What Wal-Mart store have you been shopping lately???

All Wal-Mart, SuperCenters and Neighborhood's Food have IBM POS with cordless gun scanners and Symbol Brand cabinet scanners. Those are Computers., they use the latest Microsoft Business Software and soon will be moving on to RFID technology.

The POS { registers} all have one Ethernet and a molex connector cables connected to a store network that transmit all the information via satellite to a central registry network located in Alabama that tracks ALL purchases, credit transactions, check transactions and cashier manual overrides such as price changes and item removals.

chaosx_zero
they are spending all their cash expanding stores and making more, taking other corporations, and most of the cash goes to wal-wart promotions. Wal-mart will one day take over the corporation business world!! Rofl

who cares....they are smart that's why. Haven't you ever heard the term...if it aint brokedon't fix it. If the other registers do the job...who cares. That is why many businesses don't last, they spend too much time creating an atmosphere...but their products or services suck. I love walmart it's affordable, you always get good help with no hassles. Take an economics class and you'll understand why people keep things around as long as they can.

Frank Castle
You don't get rich spending.

Remember that.
