M & S Are competing mainly in clothing (30yrs +) and (quality) food sectors. They would be competing therefore with any purveyor of clothing and food, however with their particular demographic target I would say that John Lewis, BHS, Waitrose are direct rivals for their target demographic and Tesco (with their George range) and other supermarkets as general rivals.
