coloradothunderstorm | If buildings were built down instead of up - there would never be another 9/11. why don't we build down? |
then the land above could be preserved, forests added, and the world would look more like the way it was supposed to look. if we can dig down several miles to dig for oil - the least we should be able to do is dig down 1000 to 1400 feet. i would start building at the bottom of already dug out rock quarries and build to their top level. then fill tin the rest with dirt or water. i officially declare a copyright on this idea right here and now. it is mine and mine only. allconstruction, engineers and designers must contact me first and i expect to be paid (and paid well) for this idea. |

You would also have to consider all kinds of things, like how much air is being pumped down for people to breath, how many people can each floor provide air to without everyone suffocating, you would have to build pumps to suck the contents of every sink and toilet all the way UP to the street level sewer and water systems, people would have to be psych screened for claustraphobic conditions... and on and on.
As far as a copyright goes, you need to actually design the building (and all of its systems) and send the blueprints to Washington. |

Because all you would see out of the windows would be rocks and dirt. People aren't moles. Or at least most people aren't. |

more than likely because it would cost twice as much to built underground and it would be harder to maintain |

Currently the cost would be so high that the tenants of the building could not afford the lease. It would require massive pump for waste water, however the cost to cool, and heat may offset this.
I comment you on trying to be creative, who knows, you may even come up with a solution that would bring construction cost down. |

there might be earthquakes or the ground above might collapse. there wouldn't be fresh air either. there wouldn't be sunshine. also, there's water and fossils and other thing that have been buried for centuries in the earth.
there might not be a plane attack, but i'm sure humans could find a sufficient way to destroy each other even underground. |
