I really doubt they care. The fact you worked in a similar job may actually help you. Just don't lie on your application, show up for work on time, do your job, don't do drugs or cause problems and you will be fine. |

Don't lie on applications. That said, I don't think this will get caught. Besides, you're the choice of a new generation. |

The "working for Coke" thingie won't matter. But not filing for two months' work will. It WILL catch up to you. YOU may not have filed, but I'll bet'cha Coke did. |

Normally, in my opinion, not working for the competition means while you are employed with them. Background checks are usually credit reports, references and previous employers you have listed, places you have lived, sometimes criminal and dmv records. I don't think it should matter who you worked for in the past. Usually a company will quickly hire someone who has been employed in the same type of business, that's experience in their line of business!!!! |

It is better to be honest with them. Most companies run background checks. Background checks can show work history as well as your criminal record. They may or may not turn you down for not disclosing that you worked for Coca-Cola, but I wouldn't take that chance. Besides, it shouldn't matter that you worked for the competition in the past. It would actually show that you have experience. |

what? never heard of that....in tv industries they are quite glad when you worked for another station because that way you already know a lot about it all...
i can imagine that they might like the fact that you worked for other 'bottles' |

You really should put all correct information on an application. Something similar happened to me, I was working at Belk department store for about 6 months and the store manager for Dillards saw me working there. I had worked at Dillards 2 years before & didn't put it on my Belk application& was fired for not doing so. I suggest you be truthful & tell them u had worked for the other co. & just see what happens. |

If they do back ground checks they will. A lot of employers do that now. |

They'll probably find out and they'll let you go. |

Not unless you tell them. Employers don't typically do background checks and they will never have access to your previous tax returns of W-2s unless you volunteer them. |
