If they are in different locations, which one is in the best location? I did that once and left after 2 months. Location wasn't worth the environment in the company.
The more important consideration is how you feel about the company. Which company offers a better chance of growth in job and/or skills? Which company fits your work style? Which boss is more aligned toward your work style? It is more important that money and prestige to work at a company that fits your style. You will be happier at work and at home. Otherwise, you will fight the issues every day.
I work for a family run operation that wants my help on personnel and accounting issues but then doesn't pay attention to them. The company is very lax and has little structure. It does not fit my style of working. |

Location
Benefits
Company size
I accepted one job over the other a few years ago. Both paid roughly the same. One was a 15 minute drive from my house and the other nearly an hour drive because of traffic. I ended up accepting the one with the longer drive because their health insurance cost less to include other family members. Also, the company was larger and had national presence, and thus was more stable than the other company with only primarily dealt with local businesses. Also, with a larger company you would often expect regular raises more so than smaller companies, at least in my experience. |

Well, finding a new job is like Real Estate...Location, Location, Location. Do you really want to drive an hour to work over long term because this job may not be just a job, it may be your career. Or are you willing ot eventually move near that job? Is this job family oriented? Are the kids aloowed at the company picnics? Do they even have company picnics? Is your new boss gonna understand when your kid is sick and you have to pick her up from school? Look around at the workers...do they look happy or depressed? Does the office look like a good environment? There are so many decisoins when it comes to taking a new job. They may start you out at a good $ per hour but are there going to be good pay raises? What about bonuses? Benefits? The jobs may sound great but are they going to work for you like you will work for them or are you going to bust your butt and they give you nothing? Good luck in your decision. |

I dont really no but i would probably choose the one closest to home. or the one that is least likely to give job cuts or force u to move home. or it could be the one with the most chance of promotion?? |

For me, it largely depends on your needs and which stage of career you are in. To simplify matters, I will classify as Stage A (new graduate starting career), Stage B (Climbing the coporate ladder), Stage C (Near retiring).
As you can imagine, different folks will probably have different needs in the different career stages. If you are in stage A, you will probably look for a company that is exciting, give you great opportunity to learn, dynamic, young, fast growing, challenging etc. You may also target a company that provides a stepping stone to that 'dream' company that you are targeting. The average time you spend in a job at this stage is usually short as you start to understand where is your interest lies.
At Stage B, you are probably a middle age person, having already tried numerous roles in different companies, your needs are probably to look at opportunities to climb up the corporate ladder, look for a more stable company with longer term plans. Career opportunities at an organisation will probably play a big role in your decision.
We have seen how realistic and brutal the corporate world can be, when economy and business is down, it's downsizing time. Guess who goes first, yes, the 'not so young' employee that earns a huge salary. At stage C, unless you are that small percentage of top executive, you will always face the challenge of justifying your huge salary. At this stage, you will probably go for the company that offers you some stability to allow you to work till you retire. |
