The back is more formal. Depending on the car, it may be less comfortable. You probably didn't hire a driver to take you around in a Honda Civic, but most cars do not have very spacious back seats anymore unless it's one of a decreasing number of available large luxury sedans.
If you hired the driver and own the vehicle, sit wherever you want. If you contracted a driver, chat with him or her about it and see if they have any issues but keep in mind that you're the customer and there are other drivers you can contract with if you don't like what they have to say. |

Sit in the back. You'll have more room and privacy and so will they. You're also less likely to be injured in an accident and it's a smoother ride, in the back. |
