backpackwayne | If you have the perfect commercial for a certain national product, how can you present it to that company? |
I know I have the perfect commercial for a certain company but I have found it very difficult to present it to them. I don't want to just send it in because chances are someone else might steal the idea. I have enough confidence in my idea to fly across the country at my own expense as long as I know someone there would hear my idea.
Any suggestions? |

The reality is, your chance of getting a meeting, or even having them look at your work, is almost zero.
Big companies hire ad agencies to come up with their commercials, and those are all based on the company's master marketing plan, which you don't have access to.
If you do send in your idea, they will simply send it back, saying that no one other than a secretary saw it, and tell you that they do this to prevent legal claims against them.
If you really want to do commercials for companies, start an ad agency, get some local clients, do great work for them, then you will have a reputation that will let you get appointments with larger clients.
(I know, one commercial in the Super Bowl was done by "just people" as part of a contest. But that's just one commercial out the hundreds of thousands of commercial that run each year. It isn't the usual situation.)

write it all down, date it, have witnesses sign it. (then if its stolen, you can prove they stole it)
present yourself as an advertising company, make a business card and make an appointment with their marketing department. Then pitch your idea |

Look you need to phone and seek the person you need to meet by phone, email or in person. If this does not happen you just ignore the company.
On the other hand there is a look of the beholder concept.
Also one mans food is another mans poison.
So your commercial is not liked by others indicates it is not a perfect commercial. Infact there is nothing called perfect commercial for reasons stated above.
While there is a luck factor in life, the more important thing is it is a very hard working requiered for eventual success. |
